Terms of Service — River Finance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of River Finance, a personal finance application operated by Weiss Solutions LLC ("we," "us," "our"), a company registered in Idaho, USA. By using River Finance, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using River Finance, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

2. Description of Service

River Finance is a personal budgeting application that helps you track spending, manage budgets, and plan your finances. The service includes:

Manual and automatic transaction tracking
Budget creation and management with category-based allocation
Financial runway and cash flow forecasting
Optional bank account connectivity via Plaid
Optional cloud sync across devices
AI-assisted transaction categorization
Household sharing for joint finances

River Finance is available as a desktop application (macOS) and mobile application (iOS). Features may vary by platform and subscription tier.

3. User Accounts

Some features of River Finance require an account. When creating an account:

You must provide a valid email address
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
You may not create accounts for others without their consent

Authentication is handled via magic link email sign-in. You are responsible for securing access to the email account associated with your River Finance account.

4. Free and Paid Services

River Finance offers both free and paid tiers:

Free tier: Local-only usage with manual accounts, transactions, categories, budgets, and allocations. No account required. Free forever.
Paid tier: Bank sync, household sharing, AI categorization, recurring transfers, and cloud sync. Requires an account and active subscription.

Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. You may cancel at any time. Upon cancellation, you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free tier. Your data is never deleted due to downgrading.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the service for any illegal purpose
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
Circumvent any security measures or access controls
Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to interact with the service
Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
Share your account credentials with others
Use the service to store or transmit malicious code

6. Your Data

You retain full ownership of all financial data you enter or import into River Finance. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your data. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is collected, stored, and protected.

You may export your data at any time. Upon account deletion, all cloud-stored data is permanently removed.

7. Bank Connections

Bank account connectivity is provided through Plaid, a third-party service. By connecting a bank account, you:

Agree to Plaid's end user privacy policy
Authorize Plaid to retrieve your financial data on our behalf
Understand that bank connections may occasionally fail due to changes at your financial institution

You may disconnect any bank account at any time, which immediately revokes the associated access token.

8. Intellectual Property

River Finance, including its design, code, graphics, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Weiss Solutions LLC. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the application for personal, non-commercial financial management purposes.

9. Disclaimers

Not financial advice

River Finance is a budgeting tool, not a financial advisor. The information, forecasts, and calculations provided by the application are for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You should consult qualified professionals for financial decisions.

Accuracy

While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that data retrieved from bank connections, AI categorizations, or financial calculations will be error-free. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying your financial information.

Availability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Weiss Solutions LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

Financial losses resulting from reliance on the application's calculations or forecasts
Loss of data due to device failure, software bugs, or service interruptions
Damages from unauthorized access to your account
Losses resulting from bank connection failures or incorrect data from financial institutions

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Weiss Solutions LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the service.

12. Termination

You may stop using River Finance at any time. You may delete your account at any time, which permanently removes all cloud-stored data.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. In the event of termination for cause, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export your data when feasible.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the application or via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of River Finance after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of River Finance shall be resolved in the courts of Idaho.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Weiss Solutions LLC regarding your use of River Finance.
